Treasurer's Report

$877.20 - gaming

$513.42 - playground

-Cheque to be made to Sophia for babysitting during 2 meetings ($30).

 

Spaghetti Dinner

 

Community dinner by donation - volunteers to arrive about 4pm - dinner at 5:30. 

 

 

Principal's Report

 

 

Field Trip - Homelinks has invited intermediate students to go skiing - fee will be $27 per student.

Web site - this is being updated regularly

PAWS - coming every Friday to teach how to care for pets.  March 14 will be "bring your own pet day".

Received $500 from BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation - Nancy will deposit this - will use money to fund agriculture based field trips.

Pre School update - Parents Reading/Children Succeeding Program.  To be run April 7 until June on Mondays from 12:30 to 2:30.  Parents accompany children aged 3-4 (and kindergartens if they want to stay).  First hour will be structured with an instructor then children will do an activity with child care worker and parents will stay to discuss child development and reading information with instructor.  Nancy to put ad in paper about this program.

Field Trip Plans - need idea for April.  May will be Morris Greenhouse and June will be Ft. Steel (Pac to pay for busing and entrance fees) and intermediates may go to Pines Camp (still just being discussed).

              Fruit & Veggie Program

              Deb Short volunteering.  Enough fruit that children are able to have it daily.

New Business

              Dolphins

             

              Presentation by Deb Short.  She has been studying dolphins and has been in contact with Horace Dobbs (Director of Dolphin Watch International).  His foundation (Operation Sunshine) has chosedn Deb and her dtr as sponsees and will be sending them to Bahamas in October to make contact with Dolphins in the wild.  He has sent a package for the school that includes books, poster, dvd's, and educational material.  Nancy to discuss possible Dolphin focus for future Fridays with teachers for after Spring Break. 

              School Board Meeting

 

              March 10/08 - school board to meet with parents regarding possible school closure.  Parents welcome to meet together at Casey Holden's home on March 3 at 6:30 to prepare for the March 10 meeting.  Casey can be reached at 866-5458.
