2010!

January 11, 2010

The New Year has begun with a few notable events. The Beaver Hockey Team came to our school and played floor hockey against a mixed team of boys from Gr.10-12, plus Jaylene Scobie who effectively represented the girls! The game was exciting and at the end the Nite Hawks offered free tickets to their Sunday game. Our basketball teams are also up and running full force. There have been some close games and some exciting wins on the road.

Exam Week begins on Tuesday, January 26th. February 1st will bring in all new courses!!

Hello World!

November 24, 2009

Salmo Secondary proudly presents a new and updated webpage, compliments of Nick Shellenberg and Caleb Morton. There is of course much more work to be done and this will take place over the next two months.

We would like your feedback and suggestions so please feel free to send them to cmorton@sd8.bc.ca. We are looking for school and community projects that you are proud of and would like to have featured on the SSS site. Any pictures that you would like to add can be sent to the same email address above.

This year our school is undergoing a number of changes. We have a new school vision and mission statement. We are examining Assessment for Learning strategies and trying to incorporate them into our classrooms. We have also been creating a new climate in the pursuit of academic excellence while still supporting the growth of our sport's teams.

Many individuals have been putting in extra time and deserve a special pat on the back. Our coaches for the volleyball season were:
7/8 Girls: Tara Soriat, Nicola Montgomery (sponsor Fred Barisenkoff)
7/8 Boys: Jacey Patton, Sarah Verigan, & Nick Keifer (sponsor Jon Francis)
Jr. Girls: Brian Simpson & Tamara Huser
Jr. Boys: Lisa Burke
Sr. Girls: Brian Simpson
Sr. Boys: Jon Francis

There has been a lot going on around the school lately, including the Welcome Back BBQ, Pride Day, School Dance, Remembrance Day Ceremony, Homophobia Awareness Presentation, the Basketball Spaghetti Dinner, Parent Teacher Interviews, and an Avalanche Safety Meeting.

We look forward to seeing you at our next big event.

Sincerely,

Caleb Morton
