SAFETY AT SCHOOLSAFE ARRIVAL PROGRAMPlease call the school if your child is going to be away. Leave your child’s name and your child’s teacher’s name in your message. We try to contact parents if there are students whose absence is unexplained. Students arriving late should report to the office before they go to class. SCHOOL GROUNDS
FIRE DRILLS Fire drills will be practiced periodically so that everyone in the school will be able to exit the building should an emergency arise. During a fire drill, students should file out in an orderly manner according to the teacher’s directions. Advance notice will be given to parents. LOCK DOWN DRILLSLock down drills will also be practiced periodically. There may be a time when the students need to remain in their classrooms with the doors locked due to the presence of a dangerous intruder. At this time, the primary objective is to keep students away from the dangerous person. Advance notice of drills will be given to parents. PLAYGROUND SAFETYStudents are expected to play safely in designated areas. The parking lots are out of bounds. MEDICATIONSIt is the responsibility of the parent to inform the school of any medical condition affecting your child(ren). Please keep the school updated on changes in your child’s health. If a student is required to receive oral medication of any kind while at school, parents are to contact the school secretary and complete the appropriate forms. No non-prescription drugs (such as aspirin etc.) will be given to students requesting it.Students with severe medical conditions should wear medical alert bracelets and carry medications in a fanny pack. This is to ensure that action taken will be safe, appropriate, and immediate. ALLERGIES & MEDICAL CONCERNSStudents with allergic concerns seem to be on the rise. We currently enroll students who have serious allergic reactions when coming into contact with certain foods. We ask everyone’s cooperation in helping to reduce the risk by refraining from sending these products to school. Through newsletters, we will attempt to keep parents informed of potentially dangerous substances. We do not discriminate against children with non-contagious health concerns. We do our best to serve the educational needs of all of our students. |
