Erickson Elementary School Code of Conduct Purpose Acceptable Conduct - students are expected to conduct themselves at school, while going to and from school, and while attending any school function in a manner that is consistent with the following:
Good grooming, cleanliness and appropriate dress are important school concerns. Notwithstanding the value of individual choice in the selection of appropriate clothing to wear to school, EES encourages parents to discuss with their child(ren) the importance of good taste in the selection of clothing to be worn at school. The school setting is first and foremost a center for group learning; therefore what an individual does will impact others. Erickson Elementary School’s official dress code stresses the need for our students to dress appropriately and respectfully. For example, t-shirts, jackets, hats etc. must not have language, graphics, stickers, patches or logos that are offensive or that promote alcoholic beverages or alcoholic beverage companies. Clothing that bares the stomach, off the shoulder blouses, halter tops, tube tops, tank tops and miniskirt are not appropriate clothing at school. Neither are pants that are below waist where underwear becomes visible. We would appreciate your support and should you have any questions regarding this topic, please do not hesitate to give the Principal a call.
Unacceptable Conduct – the following are examples of conduct which will not be tolerated at any time. This is a list of examples, and is not an all-inclusive list.
- possession, use or distribution of illegal or restricted substances
The school will treat seriously behaviour or communication that discriminates based on race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex or sexual orientation (prohibited grounds set out in the BC Human Rights Code). It is expected that students will demonstrate increasing degrees of personal and social responsibility as they move through the grades. Consequences
