Crawford Bay is one of the hamlets along the east shore of Kootenay Lake in south-eastern British Columbia. The area is known for its natural beauty and laid back lifestyle. Many have retired here to escape the harsh prairie winters, and others have summer homes in the area.

But the East Shore is not all about retirement. There are lots of young families who find this is a safer and saner place to bring up their children, and the new $13 million school is a real community school, with things going on for the community almost every day, from art to volleyball to working out in the fitness centre.

For lots more.......

kootenaylake.bc.ca is the local Chamber of Commerce website, and has a wealth of information on it, including maps, ferry schedule, business information, accommodation, etc., and lots of photos.

Other communities in the area served by the Crawford Bay School are Riondel and Kootenay Bay to the north, and Gray Creek and Boswell to the south. The school is one of the smallest schools BC to go from Kindergarten to Grade 12, with a total enrollment of approximately 100, so personal attention is the norm here.

Crawford Bay is home to Kokanee Springs Golf Resort, one of the finest golf courses in BC, and a vibrant community of artisans, including potters, broommakers, blacksmiths, copper enamelists, weavers, glassblowers and jewellers.Click here to see their website.
