But the East Shore is not all about retirement. There are lots of young families who find this is a safer and saner place to bring up their children, and the new $13 million school is a real community school, with things going on for the community almost every day, from art to volleyball to working out in the fitness centre.

Other communities in the area served by the Crawford Bay School are Riondel and Kootenay Bay to the north, and Gray Creek and Boswell to the south. The school is one of the smallest schools BC to go from Kindergarten to Grade 12, with a total enrollment of approximately 100, so personal attention is the norm here. |
